What is a Functional Evaluation?

This evaluation tests many facets of your ability to stretch, move, balance, walk and do basic to challenging exercises. If you do not have the proper flexibility and strength, your adjustments will not hold long term.

What is the importance of a Functional Evaluation?
For patients under 40 years old- At this stage of life, the world is your playground. You are busy playing sports, hiking, running or working out. Or you fell into that desk job and are ready to jump back into being active. Through our testing, we can challenge your abilities if active or just identify the muscular limitations that happens with prolonged sitting and fix them before arthritis starts to set in. They don’t say “sitting is the new smoking” for no reason.
For patients 40-60 years old- At this stage of life you have realized that keeping a nice muscle tone isn’t easy like it used to be! You might have “let yourself go” in the name of being a martyr for your kids or taking care of your elderly parents, but realize it’s time to put yourself as a priority. You might have already tried going back to the gym after a decade hiatus, but hurt yourself. Or, you might have eyed
that pickleball club your friends are talking about, but scared you are going to pull something. Through our testing, we can identify what compensations you have formed, what postural changes have taken place and what we need to do to fix it before a major injury happens.
For patients over 60 years old- At this stage of life most people have an unspoken goal- it is to keep your independent living. The 3 most important aspects to maintain this are strength, flexibility and balance. Through our testing, we can identify any shortcomings in these areas and fix them before it becomes too late.
